G28 worries, gifting SCALES
I've got a QnA in a pending state: Q869
To start, I agree that the intent of G28 is to prevent blockading, chokeholds, whatever. Our team plans on NOT being in our own courtyard in the last 30s or so. Having said that... What if we're defending our tower and POOF, robot stops responding while we're in front of the batter. Will we have just gifted a SCALE to our opponent because they drive to the batter and hit us? Worse, if our robot is halfway between two ramps of the batter will we gift TWO scales??? If the opponents attempt to challenge the tower there shouldn't be any G11 protection. Awaiting answer from GDC and any comments. (didn't find a similar thread on CD, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseam) |

Re: G28 worries, gifting SCALES
Yes. If you accidentally, or on purpose, become disabled in the wrong spot, you will be gifting scales, or other benefits (disabled in opponents secret passage, or in the way of one of your own defenses, etc.)

Re: G28 worries, gifting SCALES
Official GDC answer is that every instance is evaluated separately. So if you break down like I described above, you could gift two scales.

Re: G28 worries, gifting SCALES
To play devil's advocate: in years past if you e-stopped your robot, you more or less became field debris. One could make the case that if you had a legit reason to e-stop, that you wouldn't gift a scale.
That said I could see the GDC going either way |
