Re: Game Manual Test for FIRST Stronghold

I've been grading tests this week. The trick questions seem to be even more slippery this year, perhaps it's just because I'm testing rookies

Re: Game Manual Test for FIRST Stronghold

Thanks Peter! After 6 weeks with our heads down in the robot this should be a good refresher for our drivers.

Re: Game Manual Test for FIRST Stronghold

I think this is a really cool test. Just out of curiosity, how are teams using this test? What happens if you don't pass? Can't travel? Or do some teams just have this for bragging rights? Any other uses (besides refreshing memories) that teams have used this test for? Thanks

Whoa! Can't travel, I hope not, but what a great incentive to read the manual, other than to cure insomnia.

For our team, the Game Test portion is a way to go over the specifics of the game in detail. It helps the students (and mentors too) to become more familiar with the game and enjoy its action on a higher level. It will also make for better scouting.
After they take the test, we review the answers to reinforce their knowledge.

The Drive Team and Robot Design portions are used in part to determine the Drive Team.
You don't want a drive team that isn't cognizant of fouls, the defense categories and how they are chosen, the timeout rules, light states, inspection rules, component names, starting configuration, etc..... Errors here will make your team look bad.

I will post the answer key next week. Until then, please PM me with your email address for a copy.

We're planning on using it to help determine drive team and head scouts. Those are the positions where an intimate knowledge of the game are most important, in our view of things.
