Team 3419 Presents Sir Swervalot

Team 3419 is proud to present our 2016 robot, Sir Swervalot!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ9s...ature=youtu.be

Sir Swervalot features an 8" pnuematic wheel swerve drive, which allows it cross the low bar and category B and D defenses. It has an active intake and a high goal flywheel shooter, guided by a fully automated targeting system.

Sir Swervalot will be competing at the New York City and New York Tech Valley regionals.

Re: Team 3419 Presents Sir Swervalot

After seeing lots of reveal videos and the palmetto regional, I think it's a lot less than 1%! And I can tell why - making a swerve that can stand up to the rigors of crossing the defenses in this game turned out to be very difficult. Our first model tore itself to pieces after about a half hour of practice time - having everything up on the 8" pneumatic wheels acted as a destructive lever. Our final version seems up to the challenge, though (knock on wood!). In any case, our students are very proud of the bot that they created this year, and are excited about how unique it is.

I was hoping so see both a pneumatic and tank swerve this year, so this thread makes me very happy. Great job guys!

It is going to be interesting not just how the swerve drive holds up but also all robots in general. Stronghold is seeing many broken robots in its future.

Re: Team 3419 Presents Sir Swervalot

Checklist of things I never thought I'd see that I've now seen in FRC:
-mecanum wheels on einstein
-robot made out of salvaged baby carriages
-a stacking game in the modern era
-pneumatic wheel swerve
-tank tread swerve
-separate swerve and tank treads on the same robot

Notice how all the drivetrain ideas are from this season...

Re: Team 3419 Presents Sir Swervalot

We are proud to be in the 1% club. We too considered the pneumatic version of swerve but deferred that to off season development. Glad you're making bold development move for swerve club. For us, it just made more sense to go with what we know and strap some tank trends to our belly for climbing. We'll keep track of your progress and after this season either form a support group or plot our next step for world domination.

You have awesome looking results so far...good luck!

Once you swerve, it's hard to go straight!

I personally saw their swerve drive in person and I can tell you it is extremely well built plus they have fully modular modules so if one broke they could replace it with a brand new one. It is very elegant.

This looks nice! Effective design and definitely stands out. Can't wait to see it in person in a couple weeks
