Hey! How do I get in on the hockey action? We'll be at the Hyatt too. I'm from a Michigan team (near Detroit) that's almost Canada.

Team 854 (Martingrove, Winners of the Delphi Driving Tomorrow's Techology Award Winners) are going to Houston as well. We're leaving Tuesday morning on a bus with Hill Crest C.I. (1088 i think), and arriving in Houston @ 4pm on Wedneday. 30 hour ride . We're leaving right after the social on Saturady, driving all day Sunday and arriving at our school @ 3:30 am on Monday. Just in time for school!!!!. (ya right).
Anyone else staying at Hyatt Regency (Downtown location)?

S.W.A.T>Too bad we didn't win that last match against 48. Would have put us in 7th, and you girls in (10th?).

Good luck to all Canadian teams.

The bus sucks... And, I think there are 4 other Canadian teams at the same hotel... Unless I'm reading wrong, that makes 5 teams from Toronto in the same building... Hockey Night in Houston... (Well, it doesn't have quite the same ring to it, but meh..)

5 canadian teams at Hyatt and counting - I can't wait!

yeah, it's too bad we lost that last match, but it was really close! I think 48 only won by one box or something. I like really close matches like that - really gets people pumped up! We'll have a re-match in Houston I'm sure!! I'm STILL working on strategy...I must be obsessed or something hehe

The TDSB banned all school trips as well...The simple workaround: "This trip is in no way affiliated with the Toronto District School Board"....Thus we're going

As for hockey action....Just look for all the Maple Leaf flags, and you'll know where the hockey action is

As for 30 hour bus rides.....Yeah they suck.....But so do 6:40am flights....be at the airport by 5am (when it opens), so I'll have to get up about 3:30am Wednesday morning in time to get ready and to get to the airport. But I'll be relaxing in the hotel's Spa by about noon on Wednesday

Already too much damage to my marks have occured... too bad.. sigh.. failed my physics test today, but hey.. it's robotics. anything for that... hehe.. nehoo.. best of luck to all canadian teams down there! Bring back up the FIRST awards.. hehe (just like olympic hockey) heh

Anybody still counting canadian teams staying at the Hyatt, cause Mackenzie will be there too. Can anybody say huge party? We're flying down wednesday night, but because of problems with cash we only have 12 members going and those 12 member have to spot half the cost, the remainder of the bill goes to the school. Anybody know of any companies who will be willing to throw over some cash on really short notice or just cash for that matter. So far everybody we've called said either try back next year or just said no.

But at least 912 will represent!!!

see you all there

good luck at the border

Solution for Crescent? We are in no way affiliated with the TDSB... Great way to get around that though... I'm really hoping Houston is as fun as Florida was last year...

Canada Represent

I will be so wonderful to see all those Canadian Flags at the Championship. For the past few years it has been mostly a very small group. But this year, even with a travel ban, many team are going down, good for you all! You will all have a great time.

Hyatt = Canadian Party Central!
Crescent has been down to the championship two times prior, both times the leafs have been in the playoffs, when the leafs score, we all run out of our rooms and go running up and down the hallways screaming GO LEAFS GO! I encourage all other Leafs fans down there to join us in watching the games.

The issue I think we all are thinking about it how will our demonstration of Canadian identity (aka flag waving) be taken by our American friends. We all know our government’s position on the war, and no matter what your personal thoughts on it, it may be best for all us Canadians to be gracious and understanding to all of our friends down south at the championship. If we act respectively to their demonstrations of national identity, the same respect will be extended to us Canadians.

Any thoughts?

I think you're right - but I also think a lot of people (teachers, some students, etc) are getting a little over-concerned.

I must admit that before we got down to Michigan for the GLR that I told the people on 783 to not bring up Iraq or anything, cause I wasn't sure how 'the Canadians' would be received.

Well, long story short everyone loved us and seemed to love our flags - at one point an entire section of Americans was chanting 'Go Canada!'.

The group of people involved in FIRST are definitely the most welcoming people in the world (Americans and Canadians), and everyone supports everyone else. I expect more of the same in Houston.

Go America! Go Canada!, and GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!

As an American, and a member of the military, I'm totally fine and think the Candian flags are cool. (fond memories of GLR coming back to me). We'll be displaying our US flag in our pits. You all should go on and do the same. Besides we're all one big happy FIRST family anyway.

PS: I'm coming over to watch the game
