Boulders are scored automatically, not by the refs. In order for a boulder to be scored, it HAS to end up in the corral. Unfortunately, this means that for a high goal, if it goes in one and out the other, it does not count. Additionally, occasionally a boulder would get stuck in the opening of the tower. Usually this would only be taken into account if it affects the outcome of the match - ie if the winning alliance had a stuck boulder, there's not much point in changing the score to reflect that.

We had a couple of shots (at least 3) go in the left side of the goal and come out the right side of the goal. We were surprised because our catapult isn't too powerful and we were pretty far back (outer works).

We had a few as well, with quite a bit more energy behind the shot. I can't explain it. I've re watched a number of times and I cant find a correlation. I was hoping it would be related to shooting position, looks like bad luck. It may be related to the split in the plastic behind the goal, but that's my only theory.

During our prototyping and testing phase of build season, we had this happen multiple times. We figured out that if you line your shot up at the right (or in this case wrong) position, it'll fly through the other end. We found that simply angling your robot helps keep from missing.
