Yes it is. The front of this also pivots down with a secondary piston at the front. This allows it to get under the portcullis, and push down the CDF.

It's 8WD, using VEX traction wheels and blue nitrite tread. The base is angled at the front and back to get the right lift over defenses, and is... Nicely reinforced. We paid careful attention to dead spots and the point of contact of the wheels on the defenses when looking at the amount of clearance for the base.

We are using belts as well, as they are lighter, easier to replace, and can tolerate shock much better than #25 chain (we've broken two belts, mainly from stretching because of carpet getting stuck in the pulleys)

The geometry of the base makes it so that it can get over every terrain based defenses without tortugaing. The wedges also eliminate any type of landing gear, as well as the ability to go forward and backwards over the defenses.

It's true; I like to compliment team on their beaver tails, as we have one ourselves. We were inspired by 973's intake from 2012. I haven't heard it be referred to as CD7 though. What does that mean?

CD7 is Chief Delphi's 7th robot (2002).

My guess is some form of rubber. You can see it in strips on their shooting hood too.

What material are you using for the clear portion of the intake roller? I see it a lot, but actually don't know what teams are using!
