Re: 2016 Arizona North Regional
This regional was hands-down my favorite I've ever been to. Every volunteer and team member I met was friendly and helpful, the venue was wonderful, and the regional was almost never behind on time. The competition itself seemed to be intense and competitive at all points, qualifications and eliminations, and it was very fun to watch.
Congratulations to teams 2122, 125, and 498 on winning the regional, and to 4499 on winning EI! I look forward to seeing what else you guys do this season and can't wait to see all of you again in St. Louis! Finally, thank you to NAU for letting all of these teams use their stadium, and to team 2486 for helping organize this fantastic regional! It was very well done, and I hope to be back next year! Re: 2016 Arizona North Regional
I would just like to encourage anyone who has considered the Arizona west regional but didn't make it to Flagstaff this year to give it a try next year. The surroundings are beautiful, the event well run, the organizing team and volunteers were great. At this point I am just hoping that our inaugural Idaho regional can meet the standard that Arizona North set. To the organizing team and the volunteers - thank you all for your efforts and for creating such a great event for the teams.
We had a blast with the teams and really enjoyed seeing the qualification alliance cooperation that enabled so many tower captures. We really wish that we could have played more with the great folks on 842, 1011, 1619, 2486, 2996, and 3250, but were very thankful for our elimination alliance partners - the great defense that the Cobra Commanders (498) played, and the steady high goal scoring and breaching that the Nutrons (125) provided to get our alliance through the championship rounds. Thank you all for your contributions to a great event. |

Re: 2016 Arizona North Regional
Quote:
Each tower runs two LED Light Controllers, one for each side of the tower. After Semi-Finals Match 1 were the 2nd and 6th place seeds competed, one of the LED Controllers failed, shutting all of the lights off to the RED tower. It took the field crew a while to figure out a solution, in order to get through the rest of the matches. If you rewatch any of the matches after that, you will notice only one side of the tower working. We were able to get it running with just one controller, but if we plugged the second one in, both sides wouldn't work. This delay in turn, caused issues with both 842 and 2846. 842, The Falcons, had major air leaking problems, and with the tower delay, the Field crew let them re-pump before the match. 2846, The Coconuts, their robot dropped signal somewhere between the tower issue, and 842 re-pumping, which is why they re-played the match. In short, a Field Fault led to other robot issues, resulting in a re-play of the semi-finals match. |

Re: 2016 Arizona North Regional
First off Id like to say what a great well run regional that was! I'm proud of what Arizona FIRST robotics has become from the old days at the Coliseum to that beautiful weather and venue of NAU!
Enough thanks cannot be said to our alliance partners Team 125 The Nutrons from Boston and our alliance captains 2122 The Taterbots from Boise! Thank you for giving us a shot to play and compete with you guys and bring home our first blue banner to Glendale! Hopefully we will get a chance to meet up in St. Louis! Also a big Congrats to 1619 for the Chairmans Win! |
