I do believe the wheelie bar would have saved them. They were not using it to Shovel the Fries.

We ALMOST had one in the Elims (and had the match ended mid match, I think we would have). Also, Paul Copioli tried to claim the a prize for a Triple Tortuga as Emcee at that same tournament, arguing that I saw it with my own eyes so no video was necessary. He had a point but I say, nay. The rules require a link, my personal retinas viewing the match not withstanding. And actually, even watching it live, I am a little skeptical -- I will need to review the tape to see if 88 just stopped driving or were they really tortugad (it was an amazing thing even if it wasn't a 3T).

Sooo.... there are still Triple Tortuga prizes to be awarded. Share the link and win a gift card.

Found some match video for you to confirm

Here's the video of Match 43: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xUgb8Ek2F0

At 1:00 we see 4151 open the Sally port for 3461. As 3461 goes through 4151 gets flipped upside down, going full wheels up.

At 1:35 we see 3461 attempt to cross the rock wall when they bottom out and get their back wheels stuck and cannot finish getting over the wall. 2nd tortuga

At 2 minutes 88 starts to push 3461 and eventually gets them over the rockwall, but their robot is still dead on the other side of the wall. 88 Attempts to still get over anyways, when they ride up on top of both the rockwall and 3461. They move back and forth for a few seconds before they stop moving at the end of the match.

Re: The Triple Tortuga is Contest born.

I would like to submit Oklahoma Regional Practice Match 6.

Video of the Match is here. Sorry I recorded it the wrong way.

What happened was team 4005 (wearing red bummer because it is a practice match) tipped over during autonomous while attempting the rock wall. Shortly after, team 3498 gets temperately disabled by the moat. Meanwhile, team 3612 get permanently disabled by the sally port. As the camera pans to the right to show the alliances reaction, team 3498 regains power just to be disabled again by the moat while trying to get off of it. By far on of the saddest matches to watch, especially one of the red alliances robots did connect to the computer.

I video'd a double this weekend, but I kinda felt guilty for wishing the third 'bot would stop.

I think there will be more. It's a hard game and even good robots die sometimes.

Red alliance match 68 at the MAR Bridgewater-Raritan Event appears to have a triple tortuga.

EDIT: Agh! The video doesn't show it. I know 1676 is recording each match, so there should be a video later.

Not sure if it counts, 4060 dies early in the match but gets pushed around and ends up in front of the moat. 4681 gets stuck on top of 4060 trying to come back over the moat. 3237 puts forth a valiant effort to break their partners free, but with 3 seconds left in the match, manages to ride up on 4060's bumpers and get themselves stuck as well. It's a little hard to tell if 3237 is actually stuck or just stopped trying, but their wheels appear to be free of the ground.

Poor 4681 is alive and powered the entire time. You can see them desperately twitching trying to break free even after 3237 , but don't have enough traction to do so. Perhaps most ironically, 4681's team name is "Murphy's Law".

Because 4060 wasn't disabled by a defense, I don't know if it's a true Triple Tortuga.

I am going to say, nay on this one. You are right that, 4060 is out for non-defense related reasons. They get pushed into the defense area but the defense wasn't the real reason for it getting stuck to begin with.

Close, but no cigar.

5624 and 6016 get stuck on the moat, and it seems like 4281 is stuck on the sally port. Given more time they may have been able to escape.

it looks like 4281 lost a side of their drivetrain, so they drove into the side of the sallyport instead of driving straight. Dunno if that'd be a tortuga or just unfortunate damage from a the defenses/field.

No, no, don't you dare try to take this one from me! They were in the process of crossing the Sally Port when they threw that chain and then they just did the "I've only got one side driving two step" for the balance of the match. But they definitely seemed stuck on that Sally Port Defense.

I am declaring this the 4th Triple Tortuga. AGPapa, PM me and we'll work out the details of the gift card (Amazon seems to be the popular choice these days).

Nice find.

Dr. Joe has already ruled, but it's comforting to recognize that it's consistent with his own guidelines.
