We believe that we may have had a loose ethernet connection on the roborio. We were never able to regain control of the robot. We tried rebooting the roborio to no avail. We hit our collector on the low bar and were stuck there anyway... we suffered some damage to the shooter/collector but were able to accomplish fixes and continued into finals 2. That was a very exciting match. We are in the process of rebuilding the shooter collector and repairing damage (not all from that occurrence....) ? It is rather amazing how much damage a robot takes in this game. We have been in 55 matches now in three districts and we need repairs from normal game play. Our opponents (2046, 2811 and 5803) played a great finals and we applaud them for winning the Philomath event. Our partners, 1318 and 2411 played very well and we were sorry that we couldn't win with them in the third match of finals. During quals we were experimenting with our shooter and trying some new things as it was our third district (no points). We are looking forward to improving for the District Champs next week!! |

Re: Matches worth watching
I'm looking forward to the video of Q44 in Rhode Island. We pushed a Tortuga'd partner off a defense, finished the breach, pushed them all the way onto the batter (which required multiple nudges from different directions), and parked ourselves to get the capture. We got 4RP in the end for the match.

That wasn't really a fun match :/, especially because the role we had 1983 playing in those finals matches wasn't one such that we could lose them for a match and still come out on top easily. Last edited by aphelps231 : 30-03-2016 at 17:57. |

Re: Matches worth watching
This is kind of tangential, but this thread reminds me of a half-backed feature for TBA that's been tossed around for a while.
The idea is that we could crowd-source a list of good matches throughout the season, and we can either have a GameDay feed that auto-switches to the next one, or push notifications to your device when one is upcoming. Or something. Anybody got any ideas about such a feature? |

Re: Matches worth watching
This was a close semifinal set and was pretty interesting to watch. Especially as the 5980 driver it teaches me quite a bit.
Semifinals 1 Semifinals 2 Semifinals 3 |

Re: Matches worth watching
Wayne, hard not to be sarcastic there and you come across as a little peeved to boot.
But I kinda have to agree with Wayne here. The first two Perry-Meridian District final matches were much more exciting. After the damage happened to the pneumatics of 1024, which is a mostly pneumatic robot, this match became painful to watch for their alliance. Watch the video and look for the 1024 arm manipulator to slowly drop as pressure is released while they go over the defense following the mid-field contact with 1501 that drew a red flag for contact inside the frame. I have watched the match several times and both alliances had a very good strategy. I think if 1024 wasn't crippled halfway through the match and were able to keep scoring this would have been a very close match with the difference being 71/1501 climbing like in the second final match. This final red card match was a disappointing way for all involved to end an awesome and high scoring tournament as the side that ended up winning definitely didn't feel like they earned it cleanly and the other side feeling like they were robbed of a clear victory. I think everyone on both sides would have been happier with a replay if that was possible. One of the few cases where in my opinion a replay of the match would have been a better solution as it was not intentional damage, but there is no allowance for that. |

We had a brownout issue that caused the radio to lose connection but left enough power to keep the tread going. To say the least, we had to E-Stop it. |

If you wanted to watch a favorite match, my favorite match was F1-2 when we had to call in the rookie team 6012 as backup bot in the finals... 829 broke their transmission in F1-1. In all honesty, I thought we wasn't going to make it, almost accepting defeat before the match started... so I tried to make the best of the moment for the rookie team. I tried to fire up the crowd for them, calm them down, ask them how it was going, showed them what we needed from them, etc. They were really nervous, understandably so. Watch how close and awesome this match was. But you know what? I asked them to get on the batter at the end, and they performed beautifully. 6012 are the guys who should be spot lighted, not 1501 or 1024 at Perry Meridian. https://www.thebluealliance.com/match/2016inpmh_f1m2 Last edited by Chris_Elston : 31-03-2016 at 07:56. |
