Go to Post Earlier this week it took me a little bit too long to realize that the reason my pen wasn't writing correctly was that it was actually a screwdriver. I'm going to have to ask for a few nights of honest sleep before signing off on a report. - EricVanWyk [more]

It's a three stage system. For it to fully sit with our robot and be within height limits, we added a 90' pneumatic rotator. Once the system rotates up, we have a pair of cylinders mounted with the scissors on a pieces of 80/20. After firing those cylinders, wth the help of springs and surgical tubing the scissors and hook raise to the air. We have it setup where the hooks and scissor lift hits a little less then half way up the tower. It then causes the system to raise up behind the bar, once it's up there we then retract the cylinders and start to winch. It's a very distinctive sound when our shark fishing hooks hit the bar. (Yes hooks for shark fishing, of course ground down the sharp points. Can be purchased on Amazon!) At that point the hooks which are only held on by tape break free and grasp onto the bar. Our winch consists of some hex shaft, 2" wheels, capture discs, ratchet strap, shark hooks, gorilla tape, two pg-71? Motors, and two 1/2" ratchet wrenches. The ratchet wrenches are positioned in a way so that it keeps the robot in the air. We are an extremely low funded team and using $10 off the shelf wrenches to keep us up in air makes us very proud.

You can see how it climbs and all in these recap videos.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

I am more proud of the students doing this in the last two weeks before the competition and getting an award for it than the blue banner.
