I wonder how high the score would have been had there been defense. Incredible match, but the fact that there was no defense makes this match mean less to me than other high scoring matches.

In some situations the best defense is good offense. Note that in this case the losing alliance put up 171 points. I don't think there have been many losing scores that high in Stronghold, so far. Anyway, there was a bit more defense played in the MIKEN semis.

Congratulations to the #2 alliance, led by the Comets. Congratulations also to Code Red on another well deserved DCA.

The Average Joes had a blast at East Kentwood, as we did last year. Great job by the host team Red Storm, the entire volunteer corps, and especially FTA Ellen and Head Ref Nikki. We look forward to coming back again in the future, and to seeing several of the MIKEN teams ten days from now at States.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

I look forward to seeing the videos of those Finals!

Did either alliance play a courtyard defender while putting up a combined 1091 points in three Finals matches?

Oh yes indeed. Heavy courtyard defense with boulder-blocker robots on both sides.

I expect to see a lot of this level of play at Champs. My world high score prediction of 265 points very closely matched Q33 at Waterloo, 60 pt auto, 2 scale + 1 challenge, breach, capture, and 14/20 balls predicted in Tele.

What if champs evolves into having little to no defense? The way I'm seeing it, a defender has to stop at least a robot's worth of points to be worth not scoring on its own at champs. Especially when the third robot is likely to be capable of putting up a lot of points.

I doubt it. 3560 showed at ONWA that, applied correctly, defense can stop the unstoppable force.

Re: 2016 World High Score

I have a feeling that MSC is poised to beat the world high score. Already they have had a score of 190 in Q49, courtesy of 1023, 494, and 27. This ties the world qualifications high score put up by 1114, 2056, and 2702. MSC teams will have many opportunities to score high, with 204 qual matches, 16 octofinals matches, and the normal QFs, SFs, and finals.
