This is the first year since 2004 Simbotics has not won a regional. 2004 was their rookie season. I think that that is an more significant streak than 2056's win streak being broken.

1114 has lost other regionals since then, such as 2007 GLR, 2009 Midwest, 2012 GTRW, and 2014 GTRE.

2003 was their rookie year, actually. That's an impressive streak that has also sadly come to an end. 1114 iterates as well as anyone so I fully expect them to be firing on all cylinders come Champs.

He was referring to the whole year. This is the first year 1114 hasn't won a regional at all.

Definitely didn't read that the way the poster intended. I pretty much replaced "not won" with "lost", which I believe is a valid interpretation of the words. Of course, what the poster intended to say is "This is the first year since 2004 in which 1114 did not win any of the regionals they attended", which I understand now.
