The way I interpret it is that if your robot no longer meets the criteria of scaled (falls, back drives) after the conclusion of the match it does not count.

Instead of prototyping with plywood and machining metal for the final version, they make their prototypes out of sheet metal and machine the final robot out of wood. :) - Chris is me [more]
