Then a brief moment of panic/excitement ensued when we realized backup #1 left the venue and backup #2 got called in. Good thing they keep spare drive pins around .

It seems like, as the competition season goes on, it is less the 1,2,3,4 alliances in semis, and 1,2 in finals, but rather a more even spread of the alliances in ability. At Hartford, 3 of the 4 QF matches were upsets.

I'm going to say that part of the reason is good defense is really shutting down some top shooters, and the best defense are the first second picks. Good defense bots, at least the events I have been to, can effectively slow shooters wayyyy down.
