delrin gears?
anybody think you could get away with delrin gears in a drivetrain with the drill mtor as the source???? let me know, if it's possible we'd be saving ourselves every headache in the book. thanks.

It's possible you might get by with a delrin gear early in the drive train (say the 1st gear that mates with the pinion) but this depends on the ratio.
My feeling is you would certainly experience a disaster at some point early in the competition, why risk it. IMHO ![]() |

money!
the issue comes down to money at a certain point. off the shelf gears can often be out of our range but delrin gears are usually much cheaper. realistically i'd never consider it without a very wide gear and a very large pitch like maybe 12 or 16.......but only the check book will tell.

from experience
delrin for gears = bad
gears under full speed to full stop(hitting wall)= shattering of gears and people running and stepping on toes dahl |
