A great place to check out (shameless plug b/c I help here) http://www.houstonmuseumdistrict.org/ the Museum of Natural Science is very great. Also if you want to head over there by the zoo also there is a nice park you can just hang out in. The weather will be nice, 70s.
 you people get the nice weather...  Also I don't really know of good resturants that are in the area you will be staying at (1 I don't live there 2 I don't know what area you will be near), however there will be maps for food in the packet for each hotel and the Relient area.
