Repetitious FRCtech

Is it just me or are the questions on the yahoo group ALL THE SAME!

Granted there are some good questions. But almost all of them are "does this count as entangling" or "can I use this on the robot"

I feel bad for the FIRST people in charge of awnsering all them.

Its been like that in the past too, tho I think an open message board like that increases the dumb questions. I remember a question from last year that basically asked where the instruction manual for building the robot was! Anyway, if people would just look in the rules and look through questions already posted, FIRST would have a lot easier time. For that matter, we'd also have an easier time if we didn't have to look through a hundred repeat questions to find the one that pertains to us. For everone's sake, FIRST should eliminate repeat questions and questions that are answered in the manual or in a previous answer. Just my little rant.

Angry

Yeah. I've seen some questions asked many times! Sometimes with the same wording!

Yes but the inconsistency of the frctech reponses are really begining to piss me off!

Like the pneumatic tank question, 3 answers from FRCtech stated that you can use 7 tanks on your robot But come to find out..oops only five! Sorry do not pass go, do not collect $200.

It's annoying!

It seems there are at least 4 people responding as FRCtech and they need to talk to each other before they post a response to the same type of questions with different answers.

Was there mention of an 800 number for FIRST at one time and if so can someone relay that to me?!

OK, now lets hold on with the tanks deal. Now the first question asked made it sound like it included the storage tanks, so the answer would be 7.

So they made a mistake in interpreting our questions. What can you expect from expressionless type on a screen.

Now if people would go back and read everything that had been posted and actually read the manuals, there wouldn't be a problem.

I actually wrote an e-mail directed to the message board *not the tech guys* addressing this and another e-mail that address some things I forgot before I hit send and what do you know, there was a nicer message from the tech guys that said exactly what I said in the first one except nicer, and then there was my second e-mail. That would be why its subject line is, "Sorry to bug again."

I tip my hat to these people though.

Cheers!

they should have the forum in here. that way the threads can be saved in one database, and not several different ones... i think CD is pretty capable of keeping all the threads.

I posted a question 1.5 weeks ago and I am still waiting on an answer. I wonder what the turn around time is.
I wish that when the FRCtech's post the original message that they would include when that message was first asked.

Last year, as a rookie team, we read the rule book and KNEW that if it wasn't in the kit, SPI catalog or on the Additional Hardware list that it wasn't allowed on the robot. How many messages keep asking what is allowed on the bot? I've lost count
Well I'll get off my soapbox and go back to buildng robots.

I'm not complaining, but please understand that much of the problem was the very slow response to questions.

I had two questions that took over a week to get an answer to.

I think that they were just swamped....and so other people did not have the benefit ot seeing my questions (and visa-versa) and so there were multiple questions entered before the first was answered.

Because I will feel better after having said it...

I know the tech guys are busy and I do believe they are doing a good job but...
why keep posting the same questions? they are moderated. I had an entanglement question get bounced as already being answered and it was, over and over.

Does anyone know if we can have a mechanical part of the robot enter the space of the custom PC board inorder to use that info in regards to location? If we can't put the sensor away from the board can we bring what we want sensed to the board. I've sent in two trys to find out with no response and saw a posting that essentially asked the same thing with no reply yet...

Its just FRUSTRATING to see response after response about how many drill motors you can use and not see answers that aren't in the manual.

Thanks I feel better

Hope everyone is having fun..isn't that why we do this??
