Fort McMurray and Team 4625

Hello CD Community. I just wanted to draw some attention to the situation in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Fort McMurray is home to team 4625, the Trappers and team 5597 Robomaidens. You might remember the Trappers from 2013. Their competition team consisted of one student (Hermon) who competed at the Western Canada Regional in one of the most inspirational FIRST stories I have read.

We had the pleasure of working with the Trappers this year at Western Canada. They are an incredibly resilient team and we were thrilled to have them with us in elims.

Right now, though, the Trappers have returned home from World's to an evacuation of their Town. Over 80,000 people have been evacuated as wildfires rage through their community. Over 1600 buildings have been destroyed and a state of emergency declared with the fires now threatening the airport and sole bridge across the Athabasca River.

Please keep the Trappers in your prayers and possibly consider a donation to the Red Cross at redcross.ca on behalf of 4625 to help out. Thanks.
