You are an inspiration to me to come back and volunteer my time to FIRST for many years after I graduate high school. Thank you for your dedication to FIRST.

Eric,

Thanks for all the inspiration, so glad I got to catch you Saturday night to congratulate you in person.

All the best,

Re: Because I need to tell someone who understands

I'd kind of forgotten about this post so long ago.

After the rush was over (and that took way longer than I thought it should) I became very introspective. Thinking of all my past interactions with students, teams...the whole FIRST community. And I have said this before but it is worth repeating, while I am the one they brought to the stage, I believe I am a collection of all those past interactions. And the award is really shared among everyone.

I am beyond honored, and I hope to try to live up to the ideals that I believe the WFA represents.
I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with so many people, students and adults over the years.

Now to find a good tattoo artist...

The one question I have (but didn't want to flood upon you), how did they trick you down to the arena floor for the WFA ceremony?

Re: Because I need to tell someone who understands

How I got there is actually funny.

Lori B who works for FIRST NH asked for me specifically to assist with some awards at Einstein.(through Adrienne from PNW, if you know her bow down) This isnt that odd, I have helped upbox awards and been a general gopher for her in years past. She said "And you'll be on Einstein" which honestly was kinda worth the efforts I would need to put out.
We walked the path of how to get the awards out and she casually said to me, as we started moving things out. "Eric, take that one, its the Woodie Flowers. " and again I was thrilled to assist. Being that close made me feel pretty good.

[So there is a scene in Phineous and Ferb where Dr Doofenshmirtz has Perry the Platypus carry a box for him. as he sets it down it captures Perry and Dr D says "Ha Ha made you carry your own trap" (If you really have no idea what I am talking about, geez, watch some TV for goodness sake)]

I kept going through that scene later in the evening when I realized I carried my own award.

I was excited to be one of the people that would be able to congratulate the new WFA winner. And I guess I was right. :-)

One more reason among many that Eric is so awesome.

I think that Phineas and Ferb should be required watching for FIRST members one of the greatest shows on television!
