That's pretty sick. I'm going to have a hard time convincing the mentors to take up that idea though.

To be fair you do need to add an oxidizer to get that effect. Otherwise you need to use it like really sparkly coffee creamer.

I don't think I could either.

Probably, or at least hopefully! Why would anyone burn expensive electronics like a RoboRIO and PDP?

Not a bad idea! Is there a more satisfying way to dispose of something that caused difficulty and frustration?

Explosives, maybe shooting, maybe shooting explosives. Those are the only thing I can think of that would be more satisfying. Legality will vary by area. As will liabilities. Either way far far away from people.

Now I really want to burn and/or shoot something Oh well I'll find some time this summer.

I heard a rumor that after the season and despite a regional victory, a certain team had a pizza party celebrating the end of "the worst FIRST game ever" (their words). While they ate and told stories of the 2015 season, they carefully disassembled every reusable motor, controller, air cylinder, nut, bolt, and e-clip from their bot. As the story goes, they ceremonially passed around "Stanley", the large orange dead-blow hammer, so each team member got a good whack or three at the remaining frame. Supposedly, the carcass was then drug around an empty parking lot, carried up to the top of the football stadium, and thrown over the back to much cheering and delight. Finally, it was cut up with a saws-all for scrap.

Of course, it's just a rumor I heard...

I do hope that the ROborio wasn't left in there

This would be interesting when combined with that post about magnesium robot frames.

Re: pic: Marshmallow roast around last year's robot

We usually just disassemble ours. We don't have the space to keep more than 2 robots around at a time.

It is a pretty entertaining and efficient way to get rid of a robot that takes up space you can't afford. The plywood parts used on this robot are likely not worth salvaging, since fresh plywood is cheap and pieces that have already been cut to size are essentially useless.

Also, lots of folks don't have fond memories of the 2015 competition. If our 2015 robot was flammable, it would have succumbed to flames a while ago. (Instead, it was unceremoniously stripped of useful parts and thrown in the scrap bin)
