Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
Champs didn't do the beautiful 1156 bot justice. They could score 6-8 high goals by themselves in one match easily when they weren't having drive train issues (which ended up being resolved completely before their last Champs qual match).

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
133 did a phenomenal job of using a flashlight for their aiming. While I do believe they used vision during auto, they were highly successful.

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
Batter shooters like 558 and 1058 didn't seem to use the camera at all but could consistently score lots of high goals by the end of the season.
Very few if any teams didn't use the camera in auton this year though - with the defense crossings it's hard to count on landing on the same spot every time. |

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
Someone correct me if I'm wrong-
I think both 67 and 1538 were only using flashlights by the time CMP rolled around. |

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
We used vision in auton, but for tele-op the defense shot was all flashlight.

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
team 4028, The beak Squad had a camera with a recital sight (no full auto vision), it was super sweet and they did really well.

Quote:
5813 Morpheus did fantastic this season; they are certainly one of my favorite rookies this year. In terms of robot design, they did everything right for a first year team. A relatively simple design that is well executed can perform exceptionally. If I remember correctly, they actually made a pre-season robot for recycle rush and competed in Battle of the Bay with it. |

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
The ROBOHAWKS team 346 did well this year w/o vision.
Wins in Chesapeake took us to the Worlds, Hopper division. Where we enjoyed some continued success. |

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
I believe that 2771 was probably the best non- vision robot. They at one point held the world record for the highest score, with the help of Ground Zero (I believe) and the Comets (3357). They had a great low bar cycle and I loved their robot design. Their ball detecting system I believe was they watched the change in voltage of their intake motors. So when they detected a significant drop, they could see a ball was in. To make their robot even more interesting, all the motors minus the drive motors were bag motors. They even used bag motors to move their arm. They may have one of my favorite robots, and they did so good with only a flashlight if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
I can agree with this. 2771 undefended was just a beast cycling through that low bar so well. They could probably solo capture undefended even if the tower strength was at 10.

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
I would rank 148 as the best with no vision in teleop! They were lights out awesome from anywhere on the field!

Re: Most Successful Robot without Vision
At our first regional when we didn't have vision processing Team 2052 was able to score 6 boulders max with just camera feed and cross hairs.
Someone correct me I am wrong too, but I believe 1024 Kil-A-Bytes didn't use vision processing? I agree that champs didn't do 1156 under control justice. I had my eye on them ever since the Iowa regional and during champs they just unfortunately didn't perform as well due to issues, but I am looking forward to what machine 1156 makes next year. |
