[FRC Blog] 2016 Season - More Numbers

2016 Season - More Numbers

Written by Frank Merrick.

We recently pulled some survey results from the 2016 FRC Post-Season Survey that was sent out to all participating teams. Two key questions we asked were about the overall quality of FIRST Robotics Competition and the level of satisfaction with FIRST Robotics Competition.

A summary table of average ratings, on a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best) is below. We thought it might be interesting to separate out Regional Team versus District Team responses, along with Mentor versus Student responses. You can find a pdf file with greater detail here, if you are interested.

As I’ve said before, response information from surveys like these should be taken with a grain of salt. This is not a scientific survey.

Hope everyone is having a great start to their summer!

Frank

Re: [FRC Blog] 2016 Season - More Numbers

Just pulling out the data and loading it into one spreadsheet, the biggest disparity between districts and regionals is the relative reporting ratio of students to mentors. Among regional teams, roughly 30% more responses were received from students than mentors; from district teams, roughly 30% more responses were received from mentors than students.

While I haven't run any formal statistics yet, it appears to me that the variation of the ratings among the groups is smaller than the variation within each group.
