Not sure how I forgot this one in my previous post. The 137-133 match at IRI in 2006. In my opinion, the greatest match of FRC ever played.

2012 Archimedes F3.

Video Here

As unfortunate as it was for one alliance, that match was incredible, and especially considering the letdown of Einstein this year, this was probably the best match of the 2012 season, which was one of the best games ever.

Watching Big Mike try his hardest with the pokey stick to keep the balls moving as 71 and 1625 fill the goal is pretty hilarious. The lessons learned from 2006 were definitely incorporated into some future shooting games, regarding balls getting jammed in goals and the implementation of automatic ball counting.

But no impact on the match, it came out of the winning alliances' goal.

2008: FRC27 shoots DIAGONALLY from the corner to seal a win via hurdle. Might have been GLR (this was before districts, folks), and I want to say it was elims. Anybody have a better memory than I do on this one?

2012 Lake Superior, Qualification Match 81

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dxV...ie_zW&index=11

Teams 1714, 2169 and 3018 were randomly paired together in quals 81. These same three robots would all later be on the #1 alliance and win the regional. As far as I know, this is the only time a whole alliance played together in a qualification match and those same 3 robots went on to win the event.

Can't remember who the source was, but I remember being told that the field volunteers noticed the ball come out and had it counted in the final tally.

The tragic part about this match is that the initial score was 138-137 before factoring in a 5 point penalty for a human player stepping out of the driver station during the match.

I would like to put forth my contribution, a moment that defines my FIRST experience.
Full Match Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-IgM9Dp7-A
Edited version with robot GoPro, driver GoPro, and full match videos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHmTiY8u4oY

It Quarterfinal 2 of the 2015 NE District Championship at WPI, and my team, 2877 was the captain of a strong 7th alliance, with partners 230(Gaelhawks) and 558(Robosquad). Everything started out according to plan, until 558 tipped backwards trying to pick up a can. I(Drive Coach) told my driver to not pay attention to 558, because we could not afford the wasted time trying to right them. However, my driver called me off, and went for it. He righted them on his second try. That moment taught me that, in the end gracious professionalism is more important than the result of any match

The other half of the equation for the 1114 6v0 match was the particular teams involved. 111 and 1114 spent the entire weekend jockeying for the #1 seed. They were basically tied for #1 seed at the time. If 1114 played a hard fought match against 111 and 469 and lost, it would guarantee that 111 seeded above 1114, which would basically guarantee 111 advanced to Einstein. By playing the 6v0 match, 1114 ensured that 111 would only get 5 more ranking points than them in the worst case scenario. 1114's alliance partners needed to block their own goals in order to prevent 111 from scoring on themselves to boost their ranking.

This match was a "hostile 6v0" in that 1114 did not collude with the opposing alliance before the match, and actively hindered their efforts to seed higher, so you can't say this is "throwing a match". This is the strategy that would give the 1114 alliance the most seeding points, while denying the most seeding points possible to the opposing alliance.

If that makes your head hurt, you weren't alone. The ranking system was among the very best at actually ranking teams based on quality, but it sure did cause some headaches.
Would this happen to be the highest scoring match (for one alliance) of the season?

It was the final match at the Detroit Regional. We still lost the match to 217, 469, 440.

Also RUSH does 8 hurdles in that match which very few teams could do that year.

First perfect cycle. Second perfect cycle, back-to-back. Not sure if it's the only double perfect cycle. Was done after our ball settling mechanism was crippled and repaired back into place with a c-clamp.

Ditto, especially on the first one. Pretty sure it was the only back to back perfects. (254 and 2056 had at least 2 in one of the finals at Waterloo that year.)

I'll add in 2015 in the Einstein semis, first Semi-2 when 118 hooks a can and manages to avoid knocking over stacks while still putting them up, and then Semi-6 when 118-1678-1671 came back to nose out 1114-148-1923

Might be a little biased, but I was the secondary driver for 968 and this was the deciding match for the Chezy Champs 2015 final, our alliance members put up their 6 stacks within the last 5 seconds and our alliance would of lost if our HP didn't throw a noodle on a bin at 4:35.
