So Cal Fall Classic
Fall Classic is Back "It's late September and I really should be back in school…'' Perfect time to get your new students oriented into just what it is that we do and how we do it, and the weekend of September 24/25 2016 is the time to make it happen! We're also looking for quality people who want to be quality volunteers, so at the bottom of our website click the link and we'll plug you into the Southern California volunteer expansion program. Play one day or both, bring one machine or two, and set yourself up for success come build season in January--we will have experienced teams and mentors available if your team is having difficulties, and what with the Gracious Professionalism and all that we practice, we're happy to help you tune up your machine and set it up for practicing the rest of the fall. See the link for all the details: http://larobotics.org/FallClassic2016.html Have a great summer! Joe Petto Mechanical Dweeb LA Robotics/SCRRF |

Re: So Cal Fall Classic
Thank you all for setting aside volunteers for the upcoming SoCal off-season events. Fall Classic and Beach Blitz are making a big push for spinning up our volunteer organizations.

Re: So Cal Fall Classic
For teams having financial hardship, contact me. We will make arrangements for you to attend and compete.
We want no team left out because school admin can't get their educational priorities in order. jp195565@gmail.com |

Re: So Cal Fall Classic
We didn't do anything other than semis/finals on either day, so let's see how my memory holds. Can't recall exact rankings and all that.
Saturday: In the #4 slot, 1197, 1198, 599, and one other robot were out in semis. Out of the #3 slot, 1452 withdrew as AC due to severely damaged robot; don't remember who replaced them. I'm pretty sure this alliance had 687, 4079, and 4584 (the last two for sure). Out in semis... #1 slot was led by 5810, can't recall who was with them. 5209 was Finalist; I want to say that 3255 was one of the winners--but I can't say for sure which one was on #1 and which was on #2. Sunday (11 robots): (#1) 5209-687-5285 (F) 4470-1197-980 (W) 5765, 4584, 4913, 1198, 5285, 5869 were the semifinalists, but I can't recall who was on which alliance. #4 fell to #1 in a 3v2 matchup; #1 got a random semifinalist (5285, in this case) added to their alliance for the finals due to the lack of available teams during picking. (Though it does help if all the robots stay connected during the third finals match...) I'll have to ask at the post-event discussion if anybody has the results and can post them. |

Re: So Cal Fall Classic
If you guys were using FMS lite it's able to keep track of matches and it's results. Might want to check!

Edit: Checked, and someone will be working on it shortly. Just to explain the match setup we were using on Sunday finals, we had to pull something that FMS Lite couldn't do while in the playoffs system. We promoted a team from "out" to "in" to replace another team on a 3-team alliance with no backups. I believe some "test matches" were run... That was a fun one to pull off, and possibly worth watching the webcast for, if I can locate a recording and the proper time (between semis and finals). Last edited by EricH : 28-09-2016 at 23:17. |

Re: So Cal Fall Classic
And having gotten the full (and I do mean full) data from the FMS operators, I can post the official alliances/finishes. (Skipping the rankings, unless someone wants 'em.)
Saturday: #1: 5810-3255-1160-980 (W) #2: 5209-3453-4486-4470 (F) #3: 4584-4079-687-3512 (SF, 3 matches) #4: 1197-1198-981-599 (SF) Sunday: #1: 5209-687-5285 (F) #2: 4470-1197-980 (W, 3 matches) #3: 4913-1198-5869 (SF) #4: 5285-5765-4584 (SF). In case anybody's wondering about that robot that's on both #1 and #4 on Sunday, yes, they were on both #4 and on #1. And I believe that I won't be far wrong in saying that they looked about like they won the lottery when their number was drawn to fill in the hole in the #1 alliance. |
