2016 JUMPSTART Training Event
JUMPSTART 2016
We are excited to announce that JUMPSTART will be back again in 2016 - this time it is bigger and better! St Cloud State University has approved 40 teams to attend this seasons JUMPSTART training event - and we are looking to provide the best possible training for every team and every member. Information When: Saturday, Dec. 3 2016 Where: SCSU - Wick Science Building Cost: FREE! (Thank you to SCSU and the CMMA) Lunch: FREE! (Thank you to SCSU and the CMMA) Registration Dates: TBA Last year was a resounding success as 22 teams attended with 14 different teams/organizations providing training sessions. Even though we concentrated on teams from the Central MN area, last year we had teams from as far away as Esko, Fargo, and Edina. We are hoping that more teams from outside of the Central MN area attend this year's event! The goal for this year is to raise the bar for MN FIRST. We are pushing our sponsors and presenters to provide the best training event possible. We are opening the registration to 40 teams. However, the teams that attended last season are already pre-registered so that currently leaves 18 spots. During the registration process we will asking teams to present at this event; however, we will be selective on which teams can present and what sessions they present on. We plan on having over 36 unique training sessions provided by over 20 different teams/organizations. We want to provide the most comprehensive training session in Minnesota. Currently we are working on providing certain tracts/sessions that will best complement each team and members/mentors of each team. Prospective Sessions for 2016 -Districts vs Regionals in MN (How viable is this?) -Central MN Regional (2018/19 St Cloud Regional) -Professional PIT Development (Have you seen 5690's PIT?) -Successful Team Organization (mapping your team's success through Gantt Charts) -Creating a winning Chairman's Submission -How to create successful partnerships -Generating Sponsors (Small school, small town) -FRC beyond High School (NDSU Bison Robotics/GreenHorns Ri3d) -Creating success with a Booster Club (Showcase of two teams successes) -6 week Build Season, 4 weeks of Design (3026 will showcase their success) -How to succeed as a young team (5690, 5913, and 6175 presenting) -Navigating the MSHSL State Tournament Qualifications (based on previous years) -Working to create a Conference Championship (FRC 4607 will map out how to do this) -Optimal Drive trains (NDSU Bison Robotics) -Scouting to win vs Scouting to survive -Creating a HUB and what it means (CMNRHub Mentors presenting) -BUMPERS, I repeat, BUMPERS. (FRC 4607 and FRC 3026 will present) -Practice Arenas and Week Zero events - How important are they? (SW Hub?) -Driver Training -Creating a Brand that is recognizable (Multiple teams will present this) -Vision Tracking (CMNRH) -FRC Schedules (6 week; 6 Month; 9 Month; Year round) -COR Robotics Summer Training Camps (COR Robotics) Sponsor Organizations: St Cloud State University Central Minnesota Manufacturers Association Central MN Robotics HUB NDSU Bison Robotics Notes from teams attending in 2015: Five teams qualified for the World Championships (3102, 4607, 5690, 5913, 6175) Four teams qualified for the MN State Championships (1816, 3102, 4607, 6175) Please keep tune to this thread and to the MNFIRST updates for more information regarding registration.
