How do you pick up balls?
I'd like to start a thread as to different mechanisms other teams have used/are planning to use. This mechanism includes picking balls up and lifting these balls into a goal of some height.

Without going into exact details, we took our inspiration from an automatic baseball pitcher.

Rollers to a conveyor belt, to a large basket, raise the basket with telescoping mec. balls fall out....
Time from ball hitting roller to in the basket, 3-4 sec. Time it takes to raise the basket, 5-7 sec. Points scored by balls...priceless. |

To pick up a ball.
First; stoop to level of ball. Remember to bend at the knees (not at the waist). Second; with hands on either side of the ball, bring hands together till they contact ball. Remember to maintain grip as you lift. Third; stand up keeping ball close to body and back straight. Fourth; walk to goal, place ball over goal and release ball. Repeat as often as necessary Hope this helps Wayne Doenges Last edited by Wayne Doenges : 24-01-2002 at 16:00. |
