Re: Favorite Team Moments

Just to contrast with Mike's post above, all of my favourite moments haven't been about winning, or even competition.

When I think about why I keep coming back to FRC, it's because of the people involved. I think about the moments that I've spent with friends. I think about the evenings spent in the shop watching movies. I think about working with people I just met 5 minutes ago to turn a robot with one functioning motor controller on it into one of the best defensive bots at a competition. I think about taking the robot to my house in the spur of the moment, just so we can have a few more hours to work on vision. I think about laughing in front of whiteboards, trying to figure out math that I'm just barely am starting to understand.

So yeah, getting to Einstein four years in a row is nice. But the reason that I love FRC is because of all the amazing students that I make friends with.

Re: Favorite Team Moments

Despite 2016 being the least successful year in our team's history, one of my favorite team moments was choosing 4239 to be in our alliance at North Star this year. Working with them to make the "pew pew" blocker was one of my fondest moments participating in FIRST thus far. For a little context, we had a really rough time at North Star. Our problems escalated to the point that we had to replace our gearboxes (which were not easily accessible at all. One of the many design flaws this year). We were scambling to get the bot to even resemble competition ready on at the beginning day 2 (and we played the first match). Contrasting all of our problems throughout the entire competition was our creating of the blocking structure out of random parts we had in our pit, and writing and drawing on it.

Not only was just building the structure fun and one of the few moments of joy during North Star, it was a great moment of team bonding. After we lost in the tiebreaker in quaterfinals, we had a lot of people on our team sign it, and we gave it to 4239 to put in their shop to remember.

Re: Favorite Team Moments

Given our teams brief history but my favorite moment has to be winning our first and only banner when we won rookie all star in 2014. We were not expecting it but it was a great way for our team to get our first taste of the championships.

Re: Favorite Team Moments

Mine would have to have been this past year during regionals. My team is a rookie time (we just completed our first year during this regional), and we didn't expect very much. Turns out Robowranglers and High Voltage picked us as their third.

The best part is that at the Texas Robot Roundup UIL competition, Robowranglers picked us again!

(If any of them are reading this, thank you. From team 5726 RhumBotz)
