Putting all the hints together (FRC)

Okay, the FTC game is out and so are an awful lot of hints and rumors to start making a game out of. This will be fun, right? Also, please keep Water game, Denim Games, Harambe Games, and Goat Games to a minimum, only bring it up if you have more to bring to the conversation at hand.
Our First Major "hint" was a FRC blog post that technically isn't a hint at all, located here, it's really just Frank nerding out about some Scifi movies and shows while also saying, "Oh yeah, and the teaser is coming". The scan be taken at face value, or you can do the right thing and take it apart bit by bit. I'll leave the nitty gritty to you, but the main point to take from this point is that this year's theme will be SciFi/Space.
Secondly, we had a supposed "leak"of this year's game animation, which are confirmed to be fake, but looking into it can give some neat ideas of what \the game could possibly be, the "leaks" were posted on CD here, here, and here, if it wasn't for the ufo-style game pice, I would say this looks like robot tetherball, where the center balls would be called "planets", I don't have any main point from these, but maybe you might get something.
Anyway, if you have any hints I might have missed, or analysis for stuff I didn't, please share so we can beat Ri3d to the punch.

Re: Putting all the hints together (FRC)

Sci-fi/space kind of fits with the current VEX game, Starstruck. And, it's time for unusual objects according to the 4 year cycle theory. I'll expect some space-related unusual objects then, maybe even something similar to the "stars" from VEX.

Also the "leaks" are entirely a joke/prank (a good one though) and I don't think anything can be inferred from them.

I put very little faith in any hints and speculation- but robot tetherball is a cool idea I'd never considered.

Re: Putting all the hints together (FRC)

So here are the thoughts we had while enjoying cold beverages a few nights ago.

Themes. Stronghold worked really well, I believe the theme was the largest part of that.
So, if themes are good then what possible themes are left?
Pirates?
Steampunk?

hmmm but there is that scifi hint. Oh maybe Star Trek? no that belongs to a different movie studio.

If Only Disney held the rights to some popular, generation spanning movie franchise. Hmmm oh well. Guess its gonna be pirates.

While I enjoyed the shooting games because I find them fast paced, I've done so many shooting games (10,12,13,14,16) since I've been in FRC. Wouldn't mind an unlimited game piece procession game like lunacy though.

Re: Putting all the hints together (FRC)

I recently watched some videos on how cassette tape drives and floppy disk drives work. How is this relevant? The shapes of cassette and floppy disks would satisfy the "unusual object" game piece theory. There have been a lot of 1960s references from FIRST recently. Cassettes were released in the '60s. Floppy disks were designed in the '60s, but not released until 1971. Data storage game?

2 iPads
2 Doctor Who Cybermen
2champs

Both sci-fi references are classic media from the 60's, a decade that also featured Project Gemini, a program that launched 2 astronauts into LEO.

On the weight of the available evidence: how about a return of 2v2v2?

I really want something to shoot again. I've driven 2 years so far, and let me tell you. Stacking totes is not as fun as shooting balls

Having been human player during RR, I can say that was a fun game for human players. A good mix of fun for human players and the drivers would be nice. It seemed that this year was not the most fun for HPs.

Except for the ones that spent like 100 hours practicing their curve ball to get it into the opponent's courtyard .
