Should be interesting to see who ends up going where!
Looks like a district schedule already... just missing a couple of Week 1s

No Week 6 either.
There could be some wiggle room if they used both. Other than that, it's a decent schedule.

Re: 2017 California Regionals

Would Californians want a San Luis Obispo or Paso Robles event? I know there are not a ton of teams in that area, but we have found in Michigan that having an event in an area can help create more teams. If those places don't work out, what about Fresno?

I had assumed that Cal Polytech in SLO might have some good FIRST Alum support.

We'd definitely be interested

There was talk with the school around 2008 of hosting an event, but that fizzled out and the local group (us) haven't made any efforts to push that further.

Could it be called the SLO Cal Regional just to confuse us with SOCal.

Its very central to the two population centers (Bay area and LA). Could work.

Here's a map of the current 8 regionals. There's a lot of space for expansion:

Re: 2017 California Regionals

I believe Antelope Valley was looking into possibly hosting a regional a couple years back, too. East of the Ventura icon, north of the green (local mountains). So far, nothing's come of it, though.

I have a crazy idea. Let's start a SLO District event. Then change the other CA events to District events too.

SLO would be cool, but Fresno is so close to Madera that it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have a second event there IMO.

There were rumors of a Palmdale regional. Not sure what happened on that. Though it would be more for socal, it would be in an area where the team density is a bit lower.
