Excellent observation. Now it looks like that layer wrapped around in photoshop before they duplicated and flattened it. In the case of the lower-left graphic of the machine, it looks like they re-purposed the chopped-off conveyor (at the top of the machine) to be a steam pipe.

But is it just the end of a conveyor? It looks suspiciously like a fence to me... Where is there a similar-looking fence-like object? As for the sign post idea, it does look like it has a sign on top.

Looking at this now (while keeping the new Andymark product "game hint" and WCP's new conveyor system in mind) it seems likely that the emphasis on the conveyor belt is a game hint.
