Rev More Board and Nav-X

Has anyone paired a Rev More Board (v2.0) and a Nav-X MXP Robotics Navigation Sensor together with the RoboRio? We are looking at a offseason project that requires a good navigation board and more than 10 PWM slots.

We already have the Nav-X board.

Any suggestions, thanks in advance.

Re: Rev More Board and Nav-X

The "Digital I/O" of the NavX-MXP are the multiplexed PWM ports. So the NavX alone may do what you need.

Re: Rev More Board and Nav-X

The navX breaks out all the pins on the MXP, just like the More Board does. If you are going to mount the navX on the roboRIO, it is not possible (nor is there really any reason) to use a More Board.

It is possible that I am misunderstanding what you are trying to do.

Re: Rev More Board and Nav-X

This is the reason that we have an MXP cable. It allows you to mount the moreboard to the roboRIO and then use the cable to mount the navX anywhere on the robot you need or want it to be.

Do you need a good navigation board or good navigation? If the later, you could use an external sensor.

I'm trying to determine if the More Board V2.0 with it's "MXP pass-through connector" will allow us to place the NAV-X on top of it, effectively sandwiching the More Board between the roborio and Nav-X board. Or is the cable required?

Thanks

Re: Rev More Board and Nav-X

The More Board will not give you any additional PWM outputs than the Nav-X board does. They're the same signal and break-out the signals from the RoboRIO's MXP port directly to the 3-pin PWM ports. In other words, both (More & Nav-X) break-out the already present 10 PWM outputs, and neither expand 10 PWM outputs.

I think the Nav-X does what you need it to do.

Re: Rev More Board and Nav-X

FWIW, the NavX can be connected via usb to the roboRio, allowing for use of the NavX sensors and a different expansion board.

Also, the navX-Micro is a lower-cost version of the navX-MXP which leaves off the MXP IO Expansion. navX-Micro also connects via USB (or I2C) - so that's another option to consider.
