Re: Best looking robot ever?

I don't have a picture of it, but the Team 60 2004 robot was quite a masterpiece as well.

I'm also rather partial to the following robot, but Team 968's 2009 robot was quite good looking too, and it wasn't half bad playing the game either.

I wasn't a student at this time (actually only nine years old, in all actuality) but didn't 254 have a very similar design to this? Or did most bots of 2009 share a similar design?

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned 1983, Skunkworks. Their 2014 robot was beautiful, and their other robots are all very aesthetically pleasing as well.

In terms of best looking robot, I would say 1538 from 2013 takes the cake.

Minimal, elegant, and super effective.

Re: Best looking robot ever?

Since we are talking about 254 robots........I like 2007 THE best.

The only reason we ever bought our own powder coating oven is because of 254/60 back in the day.

Re: Best looking robot ever?

Wow... scrolling this thread I cannot believe that nobody's showed admiration for 148 Robowranglers' 2011 Raptor which _has to be_ one of the all-time great looking and functioning bots in FIRST FRC.

Look at the workmanship on that machine... I think it should be on a rotating display somewhere with a spotlight on it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XECmOwmYiu8

The bot _still_ gives me goosebumps...

Re: Best looking robot ever?

Poofs 2014 for me. Not a part out of place on that robot. Still pretty after a season of being beat up and abused by other robots. Simple and elegant.

I generally appreciate robots without lightening patterns in their tubing; they look more elegant to me. So that puts a lot of Poof robots above a lot of 233 robots just based on that preference. But both teams routinely produce the best looking robots in FRC.

233 from 2011 & 968's 2006 & 2007 machines come to mind. I liked the red.

1114 in 2007 had the cool "transformer" look to from an operational standpoint.
