How to connect to our robot without ethernet cable at workshop?

I am almost certain our robot from two years ago was able to do this, but not our robot from this year. Our robot last year also needed a cable. Why is this?

If you reset the radio using the FRC Radio configuration tool, you can wirelessly connect.
