FIRST Newspaper/Blog Idea
My friend and I had an idea to start a news website/blog about FIRST.
I feel within the FIRST community there aren't any consistent content creators. Sports or even professional video gaming spaces have their own news/media outlets that post narratives about teams regarding large events, have interesting stats and content relating to robot building, strategy, etc. Usually these things exist on Reddit or Chief, but are in a very temporary space and not always consistently published. Is this unnecessary to what is currently available in the forms of social media and the occasional FIRST news posts? If was particular content you would like to consume, what would it be? Feedback is much appreciated (just if you would be interested in reading something of the sort), I am not great with words so hopefully this wasn't too painful to read. My university paper's editor would be helping me with actual language and verbiage if we do decide to make something, so hopefully it's of higher quality. Let me know what you think! |

Re: FIRST Newspaper/Blog Idea
I'm not sure what you mean by "there aren't any consistent content creators". There are many examples of regularly generated FRC content; GameSense, FIRST Updates Now, Looking Forward, etc. They're all pretty similar to sports or gaming league coverage.

Re: FIRST Newspaper/Blog Idea
I'd appreciate something more split up by event/district/group of regionals/etc, or even highlighting specific teams once in a while, a bit more in depth than what currently exists.

I really enjoy Spectrum's blogs that highlight specific mentors in the community. If you contacted specific teams of all sizes, colors and shapes and talked to them about their team origins, team traditions, and whatever the team is interested in sharing. If you make good content, I'd definitely read that. |

Now that you mention, I do look at NEforecast from time to time. To add some suggestions, it'd be nice to have some sort of wrap up after events, so we can see how predictions matched up with results. I might also like more focus on other teams, just so see what they're like besides behind the glass, as well as offseason coverage, or even just cool stuff district/region teams do. Some of these might fit in better with the blog format, but i hope I gave some good input. |

Re: FIRST Newspaper/Blog Idea
Hmmm, what if you were to bring all the mentioned above news sources into one website with sections for each area. Each account like CHS platter, the Texas one, Looking Forward etc all have their sections on that page that they post their weekly content. You could also have a main page posting broad FRC/FIRST news or whatever and add your own stuff to the website. Obviously this would take a lot of agreement from all parties but would be very cool. It would be very neat to have one website with all the areas news sources. Just an idea
