Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

HYPE had a great time at Ruckus this year! Thank you to 20 and 3951 for joining our alliance for eliminations.

And a big thank you to 5406, who lent us not one, but two 775 Pro motors for our shooter when the ones we had broke in consecutive qualification matches.

We had a few sets of new drivers in, and due to the wear on the robot combined with students who aren't completely used to the robot yet, we managed to break our robot in some very new and interesting ways! No matter how many time i experience it, I will always be struck by how willing and happy teams are to help one another in the pits and on the field- so thank you again.

Congratulations to 3015, 4039, 1360, and 3173 for winning the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus! I really hope we get to see 4039 in Rochester again sometime- even though the district walls have closed you off to us, we're always open for you!

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

Celt-X 5406 had a great time at Ruckus too! It was great to catch up with some of our US friends from last year's event, and from the Pittsburgh regional (hat tip to 1126 and 1559). The venue was amazing, as always. The organization and volunteers were stellar. Thank you all!

We had the good fortune to bring a whole bus full of students, half of whom were rookie members. I'm confident their first taste of competition (and scouting) will hook them for the 2017 season. The event gave our new drive teams some real match experience, and they made us proud. Our pit team got a workout too, as our robot Squirt is definitely showing its age, and systems are starting to go (apologies to our alliance mates for Finals Match 2

We'd like to thank our Playoff partners Code Red, Team 639 and CIA, Team 291 for their amazing performances and camaraderie. It was an honour (and a bit confusing) to see our whole alliance wearing Celt-X green! Congratulations to Ranger Robotics, Team 3015, our Robodrome-mates MakeShift Robotics, Team 5406, and Orbit Robotics, Team 1360 for their well-earned win.

Now that Ontario is under the District model, we won't have as many opportunities to play with US teams. Hopefully we can make it down to Ruckus again next year, but you are also all welcome to come up to Hamilton for "The STEMley Cup Championship", which we co-host with MakeShift. This year's event is full, but you can book early for next year! stemleycup.wordpress.com

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

291 had an awesome time also!!! Thank you to all of the volunteers and organizers for making it all possible. Thank you to 5406 and 639 for choosing us to be on your alliance! It was a great finals. It was an honor to wear the green shirts!

Congrats to 3015, 4039, 1360, and 3173!

Also, any word on when match videos are going up on YouTube?

I heard that the match videos would be uploaded to YouTube quickly after the event, so I would assume a few days maximum.

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

This year's Ruckus was the smoothest running off season event I have worked this year (it really helps when the field doesn't break and there are no foghorns). Can't wait til next year!

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

Here is a link to some videos one of our mentors took of elims. They are only of 5406, 639, and 291 though. It doesn't show much of the other half of the field.

Rankings and match results (from which you can glean the selections) are now posted on the Ruckus web site .

Thanks to all the teams who came out for this year's event! If any of you have feedback (good or bad!), the planning committee would love to hear it directly by submitting the Contact form on the Ruckus web site (we do read this thread of course, but the direct contact is even more on our radar)

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

On behalf of Team 3044, thank you to all of the volunteers and the teams in attendance for making this such a fantastic event! Our students loved it and learned so much this weekend

In addition, thank you to 191 and 1511 for extending an invitation to us to join your alliance. We love playing with both of you at FLR and Ruckus every year and wished we were in working shape to participate in elims with you. Without a tread on one side and only the use of polyurethane bands as an in between match replacement, we were in very rough shape and could barely drive. There's always next year though!

Re: 2016 Rah Cha Cha Ruckus

So, I'm really not the right person to respond to this, but I guess an outside response is better than no response. IIRC the Ruckus Committee has given the raw footage from 2015 and 2016 to the 1511 media team. I don't know if it's lost in a black hole there or what the story is. I will try to ping Larry or Jeff and get a reply there.
