Video Review -- event summary
I'm after a end of season report on video review. I know this is a hot topic and you are already typing your response on how much you love/hate/want/don't need/will cause FRC to die. STOP. Go here to the original thread and put in your comments.
Please post in this thread if 1) You ran an event that allowed for video replay 2) You were at an event that allowed for video replay If you fit into one of these two areas, please answer the following questions, if don't fit, please go here to the original thread and put in your comments. 1) What was the event name, date and location? 2) Who set up the technology that was used? 3) Did the event announce that video review was available? (If no, can you briefly state why you didn't tell teams) 4) What was the average time between matches? 5) How many times did the review get used? 6) How much extra time did the review add? 7) How many times did the review change the match results? 8) Brief description of the review process. 9) Did you use the same equipment that you used to stream the event? If no, how much did you spend in dollars for the additional equipment? 10) In person hours, how much extra effort was it to offer and run the video review? That's it, 10 simple fact questions. If you have these facts please post in this thread. Otherwise, go here to the original thread and put in your comments. From what I've seen in the original thread I should see about 6 responses to this thread with the fact details that I'm looking for. If you posted your information in the original thread can you do me a favor and repost here? Thanks for all of your help gathering data not folklore. |

Re: Video Review -- event summary
Foster, might I suggest putting together a Google Form to collect this data instead of just using a thread? It'll make a lot of the data more easy to analyze and keep it from getting bogged down in discussion.

Re: Video Review -- event summary
If you are collecting this data, I'd also be interested in seeing how many questions were raised with the referees that did not use video review.
None of the offseason events I went to in Minnesota had a single referee question that I recall. Maybe it's a local thing, but our off season events are typically very relaxed so we don't really get into any arguments over penalties or scores. Seeing how many total questions were raised with the referees would help gauge how much these events would represent an in-season event. |

Re: Video Review -- event summary
Happy to answer your questions for the instance of video review we had at Capital City Classic this year. First, we had a bit of a unique instance of it being used, so you can read the details of that here.
1. Capital City Classic (10/21/16-10/23/16), Elk Grove, California 2. The technology we used was nothing special, we just used a copy of the recorded livestream. Specific equipment was a Black Magic Atem Production Studio 4K (used to split the livestream video) and some kind of monitor/recording device combination (don't know the brand or model.). Set up by the AV and FTA crews as part of field setup. 3. No. In the one instance it was used it was to check a scoring error suspected by the FTA crew. 4. 4 minutes in quals, 10 in elims? (That's probably wrong, so if Harsh or Bill is reading this feel free to correct me )5. Once. 6. Not sure exactly (we weren't keeping track). I guess somewhere between 5-10 minutes. 7. Once. Caused a scoring change that resulted in the other alliance winning (see original post linked above for more info). 8. Again this is more detailed in the post I linked above. I'll just quote Harsh so I don't have to repeat everything: Quote:
10. 0, because the AV crew ran it for the 10 minutes it was used. Hope that helps! Last edited by frcguy : 28-11-2016 at 17:38. |
