Favourite/Most Useful Whitepapers
Hey CD! I'm fairly new to using chiefdelphi and I found some of the whitepapers to be quite insightful and useful!
Does anyone have any reccomendations for particularily useful whitepapers? Things I'm looking for are like the Ri3D Rivvett whitepaper that give details on how they designed/built different subsystems and manipulators. In general, whitepaper that'd be useful for rookie/2nd year teams. |

Re: Favourite/Most Useful Whitepapers
Chris Hibner's drivetrain white paper is the fundamentals we skip over by starting with drop-center 6WD.
K-Botics' reversible bumper white paper has been used several times by my teams. If there are red and blue bumpers and you can't build a single-piece bumper in both colors, build these. Ian Mackenzie's omnidirectional drive system white paper covers a lot of stuff that is still screwed up by teams to this day. Marshall's white paper on converting an old 900 robot to use a HERO is a modern classic. I see that board becoming a popular option going forward. (Full disclosure, my employer sells HERO boards. And Talon SRXs. And lots of other robot parts, obviously.) You'll notice that many of these are old as dirt. Lots of stuff has gone on team sites and cloud hosting over the years, so feel free to give them the nudge to post it over here too. ![]() |
