Cards against humanity scholarship for women in STEM

I thought some of you might be interested in this.

It's international, but you have to attend college in the US.

Support an awesome scholarship fund for deserving students by buying sweet CAH expansion packs? Heck yeah.

I was more thinking about the team members who could potentially win a 4 year full ride scholarship to any college or university in the US.

The application video is due Dec 11.

Yup! But I'm not one of those team members, so I figure I can buy a pack and support the people who do qualify for this scholarship.

Please, not again.

If you would like to learn more about the importance of encouraging Women in STEM, please refer to one of the many well-thought out arguments in this thread.

Re: Cards against humanity scholarship for women in STEM

When someone says "Black lives matter," they aren't saying that that black lives matter more, or that white lives matter less, they're saying that it often feels like black lives don't matter because a multitude of factors make life more difficult.

Similarly, when someone works to bring women into STEM, it's not because they're against men in STEM careers it's because women are underrepresented significantly. It's because women have to put up with a boys club mentality among many "STEM bros." It's because too many people have a hard time seeing "scientists" as women*.

Don't be a STEM bro.

Oh, and I'm not "just saying", I take full responsibility for every single word I just wrote.

*Just a couple of weeks ago this study was published. Children see scientists as men. There are societal expectations that say "women aren't STEM" going all the way to pre-school http://journals.plos.org/plosone/art...l.pone.0165037

Re: Cards against humanity scholarship for women in STEM

I love arguing on the internet as much as the last guy but when a company spends their money on a scholarship to let someone attend college, I have a hard time being upset over it, regardless of any qualifiers, given that they didn't have to do anything at all.

They can make it a scholarship for kids that juggle one handed and were born on the ides of march, and someone out there will be better off, but no one will be worse off.

So cudos, CAH

Re: Cards against humanity scholarship for women in STEM

I applied for this scholarship and I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to watch my 3 min submission video. The topic is exoplanets so I hope that you will find it interesting. I feel that the more views a video has the more likely it is to win but that is just a guess.

Thank you so much for your time!
