The E4Ts do not require any machining. IIRC from our installations, you just need a screwdriver and steady hands. The hardest part is making the press fit of the hub disk (step 4), but its definitely doable by hand. It is easiest to do the install before you start filling up the inside of the chassis with electronics and such. (Also, rotate the chassis/gearbox so the output shaft is down and the encoder shaft is up.)
Edit: However, I do suggest this installation take place AFTER breaking in the gearbox dry and then greasing the gearbox!
