RSN's New Show: check_in!
Follow six great teams from Kickoff to Bag Day on RSN! Check out our blog post for all the details! You may remember we hinted at some big news when we announced RSN last week, well here it is! RSN is excited to announce our new weekly show; check_in, premiering Tuesday, January 10th at 7 PM ET! ![]() Tune in to RSN at 7 PM each Tuesday during build season (yes, including bag day!) to hear from six teams around FIRST on how their week went. From their great successes and innovative ideas, to their struggles and pitfalls that happen to every team along the way. You may be wondering which teams we will be featuring on check_in. We’re not going to tell you…yet. Starting next Tuesday and continuing each week until Kickoff, we will be revealing two of the teams to the public at a time. For today though, we will tell you that if you are a follower of FIRST, you will certainly recognize some of the check_in teams. Here are some very vague stats on them:
Once the build season is over, we’re also going to continue to keep tabs on these teams during the competition season on GameSense, and if they make it to the Championships, we’ll be sure to follow them on #FIRSTChampLIVE This is our first shot at creating an ecosystem of content that will be interesting and engaging for current FIRST fanatics, and set up great storylines that will draw in soon-to-be FIRST fanatics from outside the tent. If you’re as excited for this as we are, be sure to share the news with everyone on your team, and as many people as you can! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date on the latest on check_in and RSN! Last edited by Francis-134 : 12-13-2016 at 01:16 PM. |

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
Going to predict that the old team is 190, the new team is 5803, the world champion is 971.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
The old team could be 148, who is a FIRST legacy team.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
So is 190. I would argue that RSN would have easier access to hosting 190 than 148 because Francis is a mentor for them. Of course this is all speculation. I am just really excited of see what happens.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
With the recent addition of Adrienne Emerson, I am willing to bet Koko Ed is actually onto something here.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
I'd be willing to bet those are all correct, along with 319 from New England and 3940 from Indiana.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
Don't forget, 190 is both an old team and a World Champion...

In other news, I'd like to ahead of the time thank these teams for what they are willing to share through check_in! Many teams keep things "closed doors". It will be great for our students to see how others are working throughout the season. |

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
It's a trick. All six teams are 190.

I can neither confirm nor deny that RSN is in possession of a universe bending machine or Tardis.

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
One of the teams is very old - Yes
One of them is very new - Did they start a rookie? All of the teams went to the Championship last year - Yes, but not if they started a rookie? There are some district teams - Yes Some non-district teams - Did they start a NY rookie? At least one of the teams has won a World Championship - Yes 190 has So, yes, 190 and their hypothetical NY rookie is all 6 teams. |

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!
Interesting that there's a 2,164 number gap between the highest numbered team to win a world championship and the second highest numbered team. There are plenty of fantastic teams who had rookie years between 2009 (2848) and 2014 (5012), but of course winning champs is a whole different ballgame. Maybe in 2017 we'll fill that gap.
