Interesting that there's a 2,164 number gap between the highest numbered team to win a world championship and the second highest numbered team. There are plenty of fantastic teams who had rookie years between 2009 (2848) and 2014 (5012), but of course winning champs is a whole different ballgame. Maybe in 2017 we'll fill that gap.

So, yes, 190 and their hypothetical NY rookie is all 6 teams.
One of them is old - 190

There are some district teams- 190
At least one of them has won a World Championship- 190
There are some non-district teams- 190 is probably on a regional waitlist somewhere
One of them is very new - Archival footage of 190's rookie year

Whats funny is until 2013 the youngest team to be world champion was 1114 meaning that we had 9 years worth of teams who couldn't win Einstein, in 2013 they were replaced by 1241 (who is younger than 1477) which still had a gap of 9 years to the current year lol

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!

It's Tuesday, and we're super excited to reveal two of the teams from check_in!

First up, it's FRC team 5803, Apex Robotics!!

Apex, was founded just last year and is based out of Seattle Christian Schools in Seatac, WA. Roaring onto the scene in the PWN last year, 5803 took home tons of hardware winning a district event, earning the number-one seed at the PNW District Championship and a number-four seed on the Curie field. On top of that, the team won a district Rookie All-Star and Rookie Inspiration award, as well as their divisional Rookie All-Star Award. Off the field, the team works out of a biology classroom, and as a rookie, hosted Peak Performance, the second off-season event ever in the PNW.

Find out more about Apex at apexfrc.com, or twitter at @apexfrc.

Our second team for this week is FRC team 319, Big Bad Bob!

Hailing from the small central New Hampshire town of Alton, FRC 319, Big Bad Bob, has been in FIRST since 1995. The team is a rising star in New England, recently showing great improvement on the field in the last few years, qualifying for the Championship the last three years in a row. While the team has been around for over 20 years, their first blue banners came just last year when they won the North Shore and UNH districts. Off the field, Bob has a 50/50 male-to-female ratio among their students, and also hosts their own yearly off-season event, Battle of the Bay.

Find out more about BoB at frc319.com or follow them on twitter at @frc319

Looks like some of you guessed correctly! We'll be showing off the next two teams next week, with the final two coming the week after. Thank you so much to teams 319 and 5803 for opening up their inner workings to the entire FIRST community this season!

When did Team 190 change their number to 319 and 5803?

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!

We hope everyone had a great holiday. We’re back with the next two teams that will be on check_in!

First up, it's FRC team 3847, Spectrum!!

Team 3847, Spectrum, was founded in 2011 by combining two previous rival robotics teams from St. Agnes Academy and Strake Jesuit College Prep, both located in the Houston, TX area. In just a few short years, Spectrum has risen in the ranks of FRC, winning a Regional Chairman’s Award in 2012 (their first year of eligibility!) and 2014, while winning a regional Engineering Inspiration Award in 2016. Today, Spectrum is made up of 35 students, hosts the yearly off-season event Texas Robotics Invitational (T.R.I.), and is known as one of the most active teams on social media, boasting a well-read blog and series of interviews called “How I Work”, profiling mentors and professionals around FIRST.

You can learn more about Spectrum at http://blog.spectrum3847.org, or follow them on Twitter at @spectrum3847. You can also find them on Facebook, Instagram, Smugmug and Youtube.

Our second team for this week is FRC team 3940, CyberTooth!

CyberTooth, team 3940, is based out of Kokomo, Indiana. They were founded in the 2012 FRC season, and are associated with Northwestern High School in Kokomo, and is sponsored by AndyMark and the Fiat Chrysler America (FCA) Foundation. Many of their mentors are engineers and staff at FCA and AndyMark. On the field, CyberTooth has won two regionals, as well as coming in second place at the Tippecanoe District in Indiana. Additionally, the team has won multiple imagery awards for their unique and ubiquitous style, and won the Quality award at last year’s Indiana State Championship shown by fact that their robot has not broken down on the field in the past two seasons. Off the field, the team demonstrates their robot in local community, assists other Indiana teams, volunteers at local FIRST events, runs a camp for elementary school students.

Check out Cybertooth on the web at https://cybertooth3940.com/, or their Twitter @3940Cybertooth, or their Facebook, Instagram or Tumblr.

Thank you so much to Cybertooth and Spectrum for opening their doors to us and the rest of the FIRST community this season! Next Tuesday, we’ll reveal the final two teams for check_in, and in two weeks, make sure to catch our first episode on Twitch!

Re: RSN's New Show: check_in!

It's almost kickoff, so we better reveal our final two teams for check_in before next week's premiere!

First up, it's FRC team 2337, The EngiNERDS!!

The EngiNERDs, team 2337 are based out of the largest high school in Michigan, Grand Blanc Community High School in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Since its founding in 2008, the team has won seven district events, and won a four district Engineering Inspiration awards, two district Chairman’s awards, and a Michigan District Championship Chariman’s award in 2013. As part of their larger robotics program, students on the EngiNERDs spend on year on one of their six “junior varisty” VEX robotics teams before moving to the “varisty” FRC program, where they are eligible to earn varsity letters. Off the field, the team demonstrates their robot in local parades and fairs, runs camps and workshops on STEM, and hosts an Extra Life video and board game marathon every year, raising over $19,000 for their local children’s hospital.

Find the EngiNERDs on the web at http://www.team2337.com/, or on twitter at @Team2337

And the final team for season one of check_in is...Team 148 The Robowranglers!!

Winners of the 1993 and 2008 World Championships, it’s team 148, the Robowranglers! As an original and sustaining team founded in 1992, 2016 will be their 26th season in FIRST! Their 42 students and 17 mentors are looking to continue their dominating performance on the field from the last five years, which includes eight regional wins, seven quality awards, a Woodie Flowers Finalist award, and THREE division wins at the Championship. The team also boasts some great accomplishments outside of winning awards; having increased the participation in robotics programs in their district by over a factor of 10, as well as achieving a 100% college attendance rate for their graduating seniors.

Check out 148 on the web at http://www.robowranglers148.com/ or their Twitter @Robowranglers, or Facebook or Instagram.

In case you forgot, all six of the teams are:
  • 148
  • 319
  • 2337
  • 3847
  • 3940
  • 5803

We are so excited to bring to the community a look inside each of these teams as they go through build season. I can't stress enough how thankful we are to these teams for opening their doors to everyone. But, there's one final group I have to thank, and that's our show's sponsor, AndyMark!

AndyMark is helping to sponsor the show so that all of the teams can get a dope webcam and microphone as a thank you gift, and to make sure the quality of the show is the best it can be. Thank you again AndyMark, and me sure to check out some of their new products available at andymark.com.

So now that it's all out in the open, be sure to check out our first episode on Tuesday January 10th at 7 PM at twitch.tv/FRCGameSense!
