Re: 2016, BunnyBot Unveil and recap videos from 2471

For those who read this and are in the same boat as me, here is a thread that 2471 also started with the drivetrain that is running on one of these robots. Also, Here are the rules for the competition.

These two robots look awesome! I'm not all that familiar with the BunnyBots competition, but please bear with me as I ask these questions (as perhaps their answers revolve around the rules of the competition)...

Before I start, ThunderMcBoomStix is one of the most unique and strangely hilarious names I've ever heard of for a robot.
  1. Bumpers: What is the bumper fabric on Speedy, and how is that material holding up(looks unconventional from what I am used to seeing)? What was the reason behind trying it out(supposed to lower CoF, more durable, etc)?
  2. Bumpers: Is that ballistic nylon on ThunderMcBoomStix?
  3. Drivetrains: I saw the car drive on Speedy here, but what is powering ThunderMcBoomStix? Are there some omni wheels on it? The turning seems wonderful.
  4. CAD: Please tell me there are CAD models that I can take apart to learn from these robots.

I'm not sure where this name came from, but we always vote for robots names, and I know it's been on the ballot before.

That is just a textured vinyl cover for our bumpers from last year. They seem to be working well. I don't know any CoF numbers though.

That's black sail cloth.

It's just a six wheel drop center drive with all colsons and 3CIM 2 speed transmissions.

Not yet. The CAD is not 100% complete for ThunderMcBoomStix, partially because it was designed by a very ambitious freshman and sophomore in a limited amount of time. If you want to see these robots in action you can go to https://youtu.be/eFwYR_yfzdo to watch the live stream!
