Re: 2017 Game Speculation
My latest thought is a blimp shaped object suspended from a wire. Game pieces are gears and cogs which, when placed, form a mechanism for translating the blimp across the field on the wire. Game pieces that move the blimp faster have higher points value, but are more difficult to place. End game is the blimp reaching the destination first - a red alliance and blue alliance have their own blimp. I look at all the watch pieces in the artwork and think "They've got to mean something". Field has a 19th century feel to it with brick buildings as obstacles. The submarines in the art work represent a hidden danger, perhaps a random obstacle or indicative of active defense allowed during the game.

Re: 2017 Game Speculation
I can add a bit to this hype mill.
1. Honestly what I think is the coolest STEAM in STEAMWORKS referring to Science Technology Engineering Art and Math. This year I think first is going to start implementing heaving judging and emphasis on team design and the ARTistic side; Branding, Merch, and Image etc. After champs last year with the Disney rep and Will I AM i'm personally hoping for a design/art related award that gets you to champs. Because we currently have one for every "Section" of a team except for the visual. Chairman's for professional outreach, Comp winning for build, EI for first related outreach, but nothing for design or art. 2. The Game: *Please attach tin foil hats to your skulls we going deep* now firstly if we go back and watch the teaser we see that small dirigible like zeppelin thing. Which could mean two things 1. Footballs, lame or 2. The end game will be something like 2011 where we now have to fly small small "Dirigible like drones" onto platforms as an end game. Furthermore first recently banned the throwing of paper airplanes because possible they could interfere with things in flights. Also the day after the teaser was released first released a video on their twitter, I believe, of a team demonstrating a football launching robot. So as a wrap up, the game will be a football based game with an endgame that has to do with flying a drone from the robot to a platform above the game field. Or I could be totally wrong and the games going to be a giant water tank full of small pieces of denim that battle bots have to destroy. |

Mini bots on Ziplines for an endgame could be quite fun. |

Re: 2017 Game Speculation
The Zipline element of the FLL game for 2015 was an absolute nightmare. I'm not sure ho it would hold up at FRC scale though.

I miss the years when game speculation was based on an actual hint released in the form of unintelligible strings of numbers

Re: 2017 Game Speculation
What if we have to build some type of boat made out of denim? I dunno, but the game will certainly have a lot of denim.

Drones as a part of the end game like the mini bots in 2011.

Re: 2017 Game Speculation
Hello friends.
I return to you after many long months, on my epic quest to formulate the best prophecy about the 2017 FRC game. During my long and arduous journey, I braved the seas. During the tumult of the waves, with the ocean almost claiming my ship, it came to me: the game will not be one of water. I traversed the ancient highway of the silk road, and there I ran countless strands of fabric through my wrinkling hands. My weathered hands never touched a fabric as weathered as denim, yet even this was not enough to sway my prophecy from above: the wardrobe of Dean Kamen will not have a play in this game. I journeyed to the museums of Italy, remarking on the works of renaissance masters. It struck me: masterpieces by Michelangelo are insignificant to this quest. The last destination was the United States. I witnessed many sports in this athletic country. However, it was not the sport with impressive strength nor the one with a wooden floor that mesmerized me, for that was left to the a variation of the pastime of the old nation: the plastic ball with holes will have a key role in the 2017 game. On the winding road home, I plunged into the heart of industrial America, with dusty factories, and the smell of coal wafting through the air. I saw towers of smoke and people who endured hardship throughout their lives. It was then that I realized that the ovens and smokestacks will be used for a way to score, while hardship will become known on the field in the form of obstacles. Thus concludes my prophecy. |
