3D Printable Mag Encoder Mount

There is a lack of easy mounting solutions for mag encoders. Here is a system I designed to make this easier. I have included CAD files and picture. I hope teams will find this useful!

Talon SRX Mag Encoder Mount

Features:
- 2 3D printed parts
- Locks in place on end of .5" hex shaft with perfect alignment
- Total shaft space used = .738"
- Rotational stability via your own personally designed sheet metal mount bolted to housing hole(s)
- Other required parts:
- .5" Hex Bearing
- 2x .5" Hex Collars
- 2x .0625" .5" Hex Spacers

Let me know if you have any comments, questions, or concerns! Thanks!

Re: 3D Printable Mag Encoder Mount

I have to confess I'm a bit confused by what the two shaft collars and bearing are doing here to add stability. Still need to drill a hole in the shaft to mount the magnet right?

Yes you still need to drill a hole for the magnet.

The bearing is there to allow the axle to spin independent of the encoder and casing.

The collars are there to keep the entire assembly from simply sliding off the end of the shaft, or sliding too far onto the shaft and rubbing the magnet against the encoder housing.

Re: 3D Printable Mag Encoder Mount

Possibly to clamp on the magnet? I agree that the shaft collar can be replaced by hole + set screw most likely.
Love the mount. 2-piece construction and looks easy to print.

EDIT: With clever spacing, a single shaft collar will suffice to mount this directly to a shaft.
