Gear Defense
Anyone else noticed the lack of rules against knocking a gear off a lift? Actually, there isn't a rule against putting a bar over the top of a lift to prevent a pilot from pulling it up either. Is it grappling if it's an opposing pilot that's picking your robot up with a lift?
I'm not saying these are practical gear defense strategies, but I sure wouldn't leave a gear hanging on a lift waiting for a pickup without a robot around. Also ripe fodder for Q&A's, but lacking a team probably means I can't Q&A anymore. |

Re: Gear Defense
There is a penalty i believe if your alliance blocks off all three of the pegs that the enemy alliance would be placing gears on (which isn't exactly a sound strategy but...?) and i believe that there is a penalty for bumping into an enemy robot while it is loading a gear within the respective zone.

Ultimately this defense is physically constrained by the offensive robot being directly in front of the scoring element as it's going up, ideally. |

As I stated, after doing a search in the manual, there are NO rules about touching an opposing lift, knocking a gear off an opposing lift, or (just now confirmed) interfering with the placement of a gear. You've misremembered the rule about not touching a robot that's touching a rope. Or not touching an opponent's rope. |

Re: Gear Defense
You have a maximum of two pilots in the airship. It's possible that they are occupied with other lifts or rotors, and haven't been able to raise that lift yet. Alternatively, you have found some cycling method where it makes sense for you to raise 2 gears at once instead of one.

Relatedly, the lift directly in front of your station is probably the safest to leave a gear on if you HAVE to, thanks to the terrible opposing visibility. |

Re: Gear Defense
It seems as though a gear based defense centered around knocking off gears as they were placed seems like it may not be worth much points wise, but is there any restrictions on funneling fuel balls in front of the lifts? There are two dividers between the three lifts, and you could potentially be able to cut off access to the driver station facing lift due to the fact that I'm not so sure it'd be easy to get the balls out of that area.
