The rule is: A. have a maximum width of 1 in. (nominal) (e.g.
exclusive of any knot widths)
This means knots do CAN be >1 in wide as long as the rope making the knot is no bigger than 1 in wide.
The gates were removed for this game so that it would be easier to get the Zamboni in and out when the field was resurfaced after each round.
