While not on our team, many on the robotics team are also in the school band, which he was a part of. He was going to JROTC drill practice when it happened.

Re: Snow Days 2017

Here in St. Paul, MN we almost never get a snow/cold day. St. Paul Public Schools says that school is canceled if the temperature is below -25 Fahrenheit or the wind chill is -35 Fahrenheit or if it is nearly impossible for buses to make it to school (i.e. the plows can't finish clearing a snowfall of more than 1 ft before 6:15 when buses start picking kids up). I can count less than 10 snow/cold days since Kindergarten (and I'm a senior).

To all you in the south and northwest: stay safe and brainstorm ideas to share when you finally meet.

3. Organize the shop
4. Help people find parts when they need them
5. Find parts to order and give the detailed list to the coach in charge of buying the parts
6. Keep track of team updates, Q & A responses and FIRST blog posts
7. Be active on CD
8. Plan and execute drive team strategy
And more that won't fit on this list...

Team Tators is lucky enough to be able to meet for better or for worse on snow days but I shudder to think about the other local teams.

Re: Snow Days 2017

We're on the WA side of the Portland area and we've been in huge conference calls for the past couple days doing strategy sessions. Tonight was supposed to be our first meeting since leavening our kickoff event (witch was almost canceled) but the school shut us down 10min in.

Re: Snow Days 2017

Team 5929 meets until they kick us out of the building, forcibly.

Since our coaches are the Tech. Coordinator and Head Maintenance for the district, who have access to the building 24/7, heat/light controls, and know how to run a snow plow, that means we're always here.

I am from North Carolina, and we have not met yet. Watched kickoff online. And no our school board does not allow anyone to meet when there is school. Kinda sucks and good luck to you as well

Re: Snow Days 2017

We had a 56 degree snow day yesterday. To be fair to the school system the northern part of the county is very hilly, and the northern suburbs still had ice on the neighborhood streets in the AM. The county uses a fusion powered heater to remove ice from neighborhood streets. Slow but sure.

By school rules we have not been able to meet as a team since Sat.

Re: Snow Days 2017

This is where it's nice to live where regular snow is a thing. Sure the roads get bad, but pretty much everything still runs. (Twin cities have been snowing for 3 days off and on now). My city has it's own massive snow plow fleet, as do most northern cities, and I (senior in HS) have never had a snow day. The only day were we didn't have school was a cold day, because accounting for wind it was like -60 outside.

Bad weather aside, it is rather unfortunate for most teams, but I suppose I can only remind everyone to stay safe, and remember that staying unharmed is more important than robotics.
