Go to Post We did the best job we could out there, and unfortunatly we have human limits.. The refs don't catch every penalty, inspectors don't catch every issue, and this year the score keepers won't catch every single ball. - nobrakes8 [more]

Using your own rope.

I couldn't find a thread that already exists like this. Are you planning on using your own rope, the field rope, or your own field rope?

Currently we are thinking of using our own rope. We don't really want to use the rope that is on the field because it is to thick.

Re: Using your own rope.

Too early to know. My students want to use the field rope, but I'm fascinated by the wide-open design space available by providing our own. We're focused on drivetrain and gearhandling right now anyway, I think this poll is going to be 'jumping the gun' for some teams.

What would "Bringing your own field rope" entail?

I could see an advantage of having a rope that is the same as the field one but that hasn't been used in 3 full events and seen the abuse of many robots trying to climb it. I am guessing the poller is using this option to distinguish from a a looped or knotted rope that may or may not be a different material.

Same rope as the field uses, but bringing your own. Basically gives you the option of using the 1" field rope, but allows you to use a fresh one. I'm considering this option because if there are multiple teams on the field using the field rope, they're not limited to a specific climbing point.

Re: Using your own rope.

Clicked wrong choice, we will be bringing our own custom sized rope. subtract 1 for our own field rope.

Re: Using your own rope.

I really don't want us to be tied to one location to climb...but if this poll reflects how other teams are going at it, I guess we'll still be stuck with one location, if we use the field rope!

That's my thinking behind putting this poll up!
