has anybody used the Igus flange Bearings and do they hold up?

We get them each year. We are thinking about using them on our intake rollers with the axles in the kit. Has anybody used this hardware and does it last in competition?

Re: has anybody used the Igus flange Bearings and do they hold up?

Used them as the bearing for a drivetrain chain tensioner in 2006 and had no issues. They've really been giving these out in the kit for a long time!

They are intended to be used with the anodized shaft that also comes in the kit. Plain aluminum shafts might tear them up.

Re: has anybody used the Igus flange Bearings and do they hold up?

We've used these multiple times over a few different years. Beat them to heck and never had one fail. Easy to install, spin great (we have only ever used the anodized igus shaft with them)
They were used in all types of systems including spinning to power our high speed shooter in 2012 and to supporting a 20 pound shooter, acting as a pivot point on our 2013 shooter to adjust our shot. Just a few examples.

TL;DR worked great for us, never failed through multiple years of use.

IGUS makes great slides and bearings. We use them all the time at work as well.

Re: has anybody used the Igus flange Bearings and do they hold up?

They're great. We've used them a few times. The only time one broke was when another robot's arm got tangled up with one of our intake shafts. They have many different sizes. We only needed a few. We called igus to see if they offered any discount for FIRST teams and they just sent us some for free. Not sure if this is just what they do or because it was such a small order.

Great company and really supportive of FIRST.
