Fuel Processing Question

Hello,

Does anyone know or have any clarification on the fuel processing speed?

To clarify, the manual says the boiler can process 5 fuel per second. Does this imply that if I fire more than 5 balls into the boiler per second they will stack up like sand in an hour glass waiting to be processed, or does this mean that anything over 5 balls per second will be wasted, I.E. not counted by the system.

Thanks!

They will stack up like sand in an hour glass but there is a capacity for how many balls the goal can hold

Which is about 70 for the low goal and about 150 for the high goal [3.11.4 Boiler].

Re: Fuel Processing Question

I think the 5 /sec is if chamber is filled and 15/s is if its not filled there are many drop points (~16) to counter so it'll take ~8 to start to slow processing , I expect first balls to get counted at 15/sec then if starting to fall behing slowest is 5/ sec when counter saturated probably

So I envision a single stream is better than a 40-50 ball dump IMO, as with the stream you will maintain closer to 15 /sec processsing a bog dump as it WILL saturate the counter and be at 5 /sec and as it finishes the processsing exentually ramps up to 15.

Think of a garbage disposal.... several small chunks fast clear done drop chunks one at a time no significant slowdown , a boatlaod of junk is 3 times slower slow then fast as it processses. So the inital slowness has to clear slowing counting down.

So stream is faster than dump most likely in terms of processsing times ...im certain equivalent multiball stream will process faster than a massive dump in the chamber

Where are you getting this information from? Or is it pure speculation at this point?

Its speculation and insights from a 4yr original and only strategy.scouting mentor perspective. And basic what I call "common sense". Ever use a garbage disposal or gumball machine? I think its definitely my solid speculation (I endeavor to help the greater FRC community with my personal insight in this defined role I enjoy ) at this point . Its my role in strategy/scouting to evaluate all available information as to what's published or available and whats not and "fill in the blanks" to give our team the best info to compete effectively each season, sometimes I share my insights . The image of the counting mechanism is available publically I suggest you draw your own conclusions how processing would be impacted in a massive dump or a solid stream of Fuel . Otherwise I stand behind my analysis of such. I have been wrong occasionally so perhaps I'm off base . Up to you whether to use or not. Best of luck.
